Aims
- Main Aim – to establish new guidelines regarding conservative treatment of patients with idiopathic scoliosis

- Update last guidelines in the areas of: Defining (eg. Conservative management – PSSE, brace , etc)
- Assessment including screening and QOL
- Specifics for scoliosis physiotherapy
- Bracing
- Detailed aims
- Members of the Committee (we are seeking to invite 10 members)
- Inclusion criteria
- The principle of diversification in terms of medical profession, clinical and scientific experience and place of work will be adopted for nominating candidates for the Committee.
- The Committee members should be employed in organizationally and financially independent clinics/Universities/other places of work, including both public health care system facilities and commercial services.
- All Committee members will participate in the work of The Committee as volunteers and will not receive any financial compensation.
Members
- The chair of the Committee: a physiotherapist with at least 20 years of clinical and scientific experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with spinal deformities, including IS.
- The remaining members of the committee will be selected based on the following criteria:
1) a physician with at least 10 years of clinical or scientific experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with IS;
2) a physiotherapist with at least 10 years of clinical or scientific experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with IS;
3) an orthotist with at least 10 years of clinical or scientific experience in the field of making braces for children and adolescents with IS;
4) other professionals (eg. physical education teacher, chiropractor) with at least 10 years of clinical or scientific experience in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with IS.
Each candidate has to be also an active member of the SOSORT for at least 5 years;
- Additional criteria which will be taken into consideration
– authorship or co-authorship papers related to diagnosis or treatment of children and adolescents with IS published in the PubMed; participation in SOSORT meetings; authorship or co-authorship at least 5 research presented during SOSORT meetings; SOSOSRT Award or nomination – based on that the rank will be created

- The chair of the Committee has a right to invite some persons, regardless of the above mentioned criteria, taken into consideration exceptional skills, experience or knowledge regarding diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with IS or other issues important for preparing of the guidelines (eg. statistician, representative of patient associations), students
The final decision to include the candidate to the Committee will be made by the Chair of the Committee and President of Sosort.
