Sanja Schrieber, PhD

Moderator


Dr. Sanja Schreiber has been a member of SOSORT since 2011 and has held various positions within the organization, including serving as SOSORT Secretary, as Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee, as Co-Chair and Chair of the Education Committee from 2015 to 2023, as a Board Member from 2019 to 2021, as an Advisory Member to the Education Committee in 2023/2024, and on the Consensus committee in 2015/2016. She has authored four publications that received SOSORT awards and co-authored the 2016 SOSORT Guidelines. Dr Schreiber's primary objectives include increasing awareness about scoliosis through research and educational endeavors, as well as fostering collaborative efforts among practitioners, researchers, and the general public. 


Theodoros B. Grivas, PhD

State of the Art Literature Review on Progression Factors in Idiopathic Scoliosis


Dr. Theodoros B. Grivas is an Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon with a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. As one of the founders of SOSORT, he has made significant contributions to scoliosis research and education, establishing a National Training Center for Scoliosis School Screening in Greece. Dr. Grivas has served as Chief Editor of the BMC open access journal "Scoliosis and Spinal Deformities" and is a Deputy Editor of the Spine Deformity Journal of the SRS. Throughout his career, he has published numerous scientific articles and edited multiple books. Currently, he is working on establishing the Hellenic Scoliosis Foundation and continues to contribute academically and through speaking engagements on scoliosis screening.



Carl-Éric Aubin, PhD ScD (h.c.) P.Eng

Computer Simulations of Brace Effects

Carl-Éric Aubin is a Full Professor in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, a Researcher and Special Advisor on Innovation at Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at Université de Montréal. He holds the Polytechnique Montréal Research Chair in Orthopedic Engineering and is a recognized expert in the biomechanics of spinal deformities and their treatment. With over 310 published articles and book chapters, he has made significant contributions to the field. Prof. Aubin is a Fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Among his many honors, he has been named Officer of the Order of Canada, Officer of the National Order of Québec, and Knight of the Order of Montréal.


Carole Fortin, PhD, MSc, PT(pht)

The Impact of Biomechanics on Progression


Carole Fortin, PT, Ph.D., is associate professor at the School of Rehabilitation in Université de Montréal. She is also a researcher at the Centre de recherche Azrieli of CHU-Sainte-Justine. Her research focuses on the understanding of biomechanical and neurophysiological mechanisms associated with posture, balance and movement control using musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and electroencephalography. Her work also aims at developing evidence-based therapeutic intervention models in physiotherapy in idiopathic scoliosis and other developmental disorders. 



Sabrina Donzelli, MD

Guest Panelist 


Sabrina Donzelli, MD, is the current SOSORT President. She has been an active member of SOSORT since 2011 and is the first woman President of our society. She has provided conservative treatment for scoliosis patients in Italy since 2010. Sabrina was a co-coordinator of the first international online course for scoliosis treatment, serves as Teaching assistant at Harvard’s Principles and Practice of Clinical Research certificate course, and took a Msc in medical Statistics at Oxford University . She has authored book chapters and various publications in the field of scoliosis.
